Trippie Redd is part rapper, part one-man emo band, and all parts rock star. In an era when nostalgia is at an all-time high, Trippie, born Michael Lamar White IV, is at the forefront of a genre-defying sound that throws us back through the ages from Gorillaz and Green Day and Deftones and KISS, but also pushes us into something completely new and made from the internet.
“You used to say you in love, I used to say that shit back — taking that shit from the heart, now look where the fuck where we at,” he croons in his brokenhearted debut single, “Love Scars,” which gave us our first glimpse into his brand of palpable teenage angst.
